Thought Leader Spotlight: Esteban Duverge
Behind the data are our world-class thought leaders. Over the next few months, we will be introducing you to the people responsible for Comperemedia’s industry expertise.
Esteban Duverge is an Associate Research Analyst on the Comperemedia team. Esteban is responsible for delivering insights through syndicated and custom reports in the financial services industry across different channels with a focus on direct mail.
Q: What topics do you specialize in?
A: I specialize in delivering insights for the banking and credit card industries through custom, proactive and syndicated reports.
Q: How did you get to where you are now?
A: One of my first jobs was at a media research company in the Dominican Republic, where I was born and raised. During my tenure there I became really interested in competitive intelligence. I left the company to study abroad. When I returned to the Dominican Republic, I got a job at one of the largest banks in the country where I gained experience in the financial services industry. When I moved to the US, Mintel gave me the opportunity to apply both my experience in the financial services industry and competitive intelligence.
Q: If you could have lunch with anyone in your industry, who would it be and why?
A: I would love to talk to Gary Vaynerchuck, CEO of Vaynermedia and an early investor in tech companies such as Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Venmo and Uber. His perspective on life, positivity, and entrepreneurship is really peculiar and I would love to pick his brain on a variety of subjects, including where he thinks the payment industry is heading.
Q: Tell us about a brand campaign or shift in strategy that has recently caught your eye?
A: I think Bank of America’s “what would you like the power to do?” campaign is really powerful in a way that it poses a question that motivates customers to answer with what matters the most to them. I believe is very powerful for a brand to ask these types of questions and position themselves as an entity that can help customers achieve their goals.
Q: What is your favorite part about your job?
A: Every time I prepare a report I feel like it’s a puzzle where pieces come from different places and each part on its own doesn’t make a lot of sense, but when all the pieces come together, you can see the whole picture. My favorite part is solving those puzzles and understanding the whole picture.
Q: Last but not least- tell a fun fact about yourself.
A: I love a lot of music genres – but my favorite is Rock. On any given day, I can go from listening to Radiohead to Judas Priest. I also love recommending new music to people, so if you are looking for something new to listen to, let me know!
